Home; An Ocean Away
Dreaming of rain rattling down on a secluded seashore,
I wrap myself tightly in a blanket of sand.
A lonely stretch of beach lies before me,
the salty breeze takes me back home.
Shell seekers are collectors of the perfect moment.
Alone with my memories, building sand
castles and hearing the laughter of family.
I taste saltines with cold root beer.
I wake up alone, sifting through life.
When the rain comes I am drawn to the beach.
I find solitude in an empty lifeguard’s chair, a broken
shell, and a gull watching egrets. Home; an ocean away.
